Silver holdings, mine production and underground reserves explained

Silver holdings, mine production and underground reserves measure different things. Holdings are modelled above-ground stocks, production is one year's mine flow, and reserves are estimates of economically recoverable geological stock. None is a census of resident ownership.

01

Holdings

A modelled country attribution of funds, bullion, jewellery and silverware. It is a stock estimate with uncertainty ranges.

02

Mine production

Silver content produced during one year. It is a flow and does not imply the silver remains in the producing country.

03

Underground reserves

A geological stock estimate under current technical and economic conditions. It is neither refined silver nor resident property.

Shared formulasource or model tonnes x 1,000,000 / resident population

This produces grams per resident. Divide grams by 31.1034768 for fine troy ounces per resident.
